Selenium Grid is a component of the Selenium automation testing tool that allows running tests in parallel across multiple machines and browsers. It enables testers to run tests on different machines and operating systems simultaneously, reducing test execution time and increasing test coverage.

Selenium Grid follows a client-server architecture, where a central hub acts as a server and several nodes act as clients. The hub receives test requests from the test scripts and routes them to the nodes that match the desired capabilities specified in the test request.

Here's an example of using Selenium Grid with Java and WebDriver to run tests in parallel:

First, start the Selenium Grid Hub by running the following command in the command prompt:

java -jar selenium-server-standalone.jar -role hub

Then, start the Selenium Grid Nodes by running the following command in separate command prompts:

java -Dwebdriver.chrome.driver=chromedriver.exe -jar selenium-server-standalone.jar -role node -hub http://localhost:4444/grid/register -browser browserName=chrome

java -Dwebdriver.gecko.driver=geckodriver.exe -jar selenium-server-standalone.jar -role node -hub http://localhost:4444/grid/register -browser browserName=firefox

In this example, we are starting two nodes, one with Chrome and the other with Firefox.

Then, in our Java test code, we can create a RemoteWebDriver instance and specify the desired capabilities to run the test on the Selenium Grid:

import org.openqa.selenium.remote.DesiredCapabilities;
import org.openqa.selenium.remote.RemoteWebDriver;
import java.net.URL;

public class SeleniumGridExample {
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        // Specify the desired capabilities to run the test on the Selenium Grid
        DesiredCapabilities capabilities = DesiredCapabilities.chrome();
        capabilities.setCapability("platform", "WINDOWS");

        // Create a new RemoteWebDriver instance with the Selenium Grid URL and desired capabilities
        RemoteWebDriver driver = new RemoteWebDriver(new URL("http://localhost:4444/wd/hub"), capabilities);

        // Open the web page
        driver.get("https://www.example.com");

        // Find the search box and enter a search term
        WebElement searchBox = driver.findElement(By.name("q"));
        searchBox.sendKeys("example search term");

        // Submit the search
        searchBox.submit();

        // Wait for the search results to load
        WebDriverWait wait = new WebDriverWait(driver, 10);
        wait.until(ExpectedConditions.visibilityOfElementLocated(By.className("search-results")));

        // Get the search results and print them to the console
        List<WebElement> searchResults = driver.findElements(By.className("search-result"));
        for (WebElement result : searchResults) {
            String title = result.findElement(By.className("title")).getText();
            String snippet = result.findElement(By.className("snippet")).getText();
            System.out.println(title + " - " + snippet);
        }

        // Close the browser
        driver.quit();
    }
}

In this example, we are creating a new RemoteWebDriver instance with the Selenium Grid URL and desired capabilities to run the test on the Selenium Grid. We open the web page, find the search box and enter a search term, submit the search, wait for the search results to load, get the search results and print them to the console, and then close the browser. The test will run in parallel on the nodes specified in the desired capabilities.
