Java is considered to be an object-oriented programming (OOP) language. It was designed with OOP concepts in mind and provides built-in support for creating and manipulating objects. However, whether Java is a pure OOP language or not is a matter of debate among experts.

A pure OOP language should have the following characteristics:

Encapsulation - This means that the data and behavior of an object should be hidden from other objects, and can only be accessed through well-defined interfaces.
Inheritance - This allows a new class to be based on an existing class, inheriting its attributes and methods.
Polymorphism - This allows objects of different types to be treated as if they are of the same type, and enables programming based on interfaces rather than implementation details.
Abstraction - This means that the implementation details of an object should be hidden from the user, and only the essential features should be exposed.

Java supports all these concepts, making it a popular choice for developing OOP-based applications. However, some experts argue that Java is not a pure OOP language, as it also supports non-OOP constructs such as primitive data types and static methods.

Despite this debate, Java remains a widely used language for developing object-oriented applications. Here is an example of how Java supports OOP concepts:

// Encapsulation example
public class Car {
    private String make;
    private String model;
    private int year;

    // Getter and setter methods for make, model, and year
    public String getMake() {
        return make;
    }

    public void setMake(String make) {
        this.make = make;
    }

    public String getModel() {
        return model;
    }

    public void setModel(String model) {
        this.model = model;
    }

    public int getYear() {
        return year;
    }

    public void setYear(int year) {
        this.year = year;
    }

    // Method to start the car
    public void start() {
        System.out.println("Starting " + make + " " + model);
    }
}

// Inheritance example
public class SportsCar extends Car {
    private boolean turbocharged;

    // Getter and setter method for turbocharged
    public boolean isTurbocharged() {
        return turbocharged;
    }

    public void setTurbocharged(boolean turbocharged) {
        this.turbocharged = turbocharged;
    }

    // Method to display the car's details
    public void displayDetails() {
        System.out.println("Make: " + getMake());
        System.out.println("Model: " + getModel());
        System.out.println("Year: " + getYear());
        System.out.println("Turbocharged: " + turbocharged);
    }
}

// Polymorphism example
public class Vehicle {
    public void start() {
        System.out.println("Starting vehicle");
    }
}

public class Car extends Vehicle {
    @Override
    public void start() {
        System.out.println("Starting car");
    }
}

public class Motorcycle extends Vehicle {
    @Override
    public void start() {
        System.out.println("Starting motorcycle");
    }
}

// Abstraction example
public interface Shape {
    public double getArea();
}

public class Circle implements Shape {
    private double radius;

    // Constructor
    public Circle(double radius) {
        this.radius = radius;
    }

    // Implementation of the getArea method
    @Override
    public double getArea() {
        return Math.PI * radius * radius;
    }
}

public class Rectangle implements Shape {
    private double length;
    private double width;

    // Constructor
    public Rectangle(double length, double width) {
